Tin can upcycles, Day 75 Use What You've Got

This week I've been spending time with my girls as it's the school holidays.
Yesterday we got out a pile of tin cans that the girls have been saving to make pencil holders from.
This was a nice simple project, using up fabric from my scrap stash and glue!

They came up with quite a selection! and had lots of fun in the process.

The fur and thicker fabric definitely worked better as you can't see the ridges of the tin through the fabric. I can see there might be some embellishments added to some of these tins. But that will have to wait until I can buy some more glue as the girls used all we had!

  1. I can see your girls are following in their mother's footsteps by learning to use what is available and recyclable to make some great looking crafts! That fuzzy one is really cute and colorful.

    1. Thanks Lynn. Yes I feel like I've taught them well when they ask to do things like this!

  2. The furry one is really cute - I think it would make a good halloween treat holder especially if it had googly eyes!

    1. My youngest made a black furry one with googly eyes a few months ago - it's really cute and that's a great idea to use them for Halloween!

  3. How fun!!!!! I am taking your advise to use what I have. I have tons of yarn and have been crocheting things. I have never been able to crochet before, but have pressed myself through your inspiration! Thank you! The last 2 posts on my blog show what I have made over past 2 days. Your girls would love to see!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. That's fabulous Julie. I'm so glad I've been able to inspire you to use your stash too. I just had a look at your crochet things with my girls and they love them,. We've bookmarked the strawberry kitty one to try and my daughter is determined to make something this week as it's still school holidays. Thanks for returning the inspiration!!!
