More macrame

A couple of weeks ago I tried making a macrame bracelet for the first time. It kind of worked, but didn't look completely as it should.

I decided to try to learn some more basic macrame and build up from there.

So - here's a simple fishtail bracelet I made yesterday.

I found it relatively easy once I got started. Then I passed it onto my eldest daughter who finished it off, then made herself another one which she stuck to a hair clip..

Quite a cute hair accessory don't you think?

I think I'll be exploring more macrame tutorials with my daughter, and hopefully will get better as I go along! I've started a macrame pinterest board to collect ideas. Please let me know if you've found any good tutorials out there. I need all the help I can get with this!

I also need to find out what the best way is to fasten these bracelets once they're finished. Any suggestions?

  1. Nice start! I really got into macrame when I lived in Japan. I liked to use silk threads for a nice shiny finish. If you can get your hands on a good Japanese instructional manual (the pictures always make them easy to understand), you'll be well on your way. Have fun!

    1. Thanks Tamara! I'll look out for more picture tutorials - maybe I'll try the library. My girls are loving it too!
