Challenge 5 for the 12 Days of Christmas DIY Challenges is to find something in your garden shed or outhouse and make it into a Christmas Decoration.
I found an old broken fence pailing and decided to use that!
This was a super simple project.
I had a can of white spray paint - which is actually appliance paint - for touching up paint on fridges and washing machines etc, but I tried it on the wood and it worked ok!
Two coats of spray paint later... and my broken pailing was white enough.
I found some scraps of fleece in my fabric stash and cut them roughly to size.
Tied those around the pailing for a hat and scarf.
Then raided my girls paint box for some paints and brushes...
And added eyes, nose, mouth and buttons.
And that was that! A cute snowman for our garden to guard the pineapples!
Or maybe he'd prefer to be by the pool!
I hope he doesn't melt.... we do live in the tropics. I should probably put him in the shade!

Each day a challenge will be set by means of a video and blog posts giving some suggested ideas and crafts. These posts will also contain a linky party for anyone and everyone who wants to join in to link up their projects - both past and present, that answer the challenge. The linky party can be found on all our blogs and we'll try and come up with different ideas and tutorials for the challenges too. So please to visit us all, and then share your ideas with us as well! We're looking forward to seeing how these challenge are met!

ReplyDeleteHee Hee - thanks Vicky!!
ReplyDeleteThis is cleaver idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa!
DeleteI do like the super simple ideas. I think your snow man could easily become a pirate or a Santa or so many other things with a diffferent face and fabric covering. It would make a great woodland treasure hunt walk idea on our farm here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the idea with me on #Trash2Treasure
Oh yes Fiona - you could create all sorts of characters with fence pailings - that's a great idea for a woodland walk with them to find along the way!
DeleteThanks Jessica!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! I knew I should have swiped the pickets on my neighbors fence when they fell down! LOL
ReplyDeleteHe He!! Thanks Christine!!
