After a short break over the school holidays, I'm getting back to some clothes upcycling for this year's school carnival.
This bag was inspired by one we saw in an airport in Asia while we were travelling at the beginning of this year.
I used a brown pair of jeans for the main bag and part of a skirt for the lining (I'd started using some of the skirt for a turtle tote I made a few weeks ago).
I just made a basic simple lined tote. For the flip flops on the front I used scraps and fusible webbing to applique them, then hand - stitched some old kids plastic necklaces and bracelets (I knew I'd kept them for something!) on for the straps.
I'm really happy with how simple effective this was!
Overall, a cute bag - simple to make and hopefully another hit at the school stall!

DeleteThe beads are a great way to make the straps on the thongs, Jill. I'm sure the bag will be snapped up quickly.
