Clothes Upcycling Challenge, day 2

Welcome to the second day of my Clothes Upcycling Challenge - where I work my way through my stash of clothes during the month of May, finding ways to upcycle them, and featuring other people's ideas and tutorials on clothes upcycling!

First of all to my upcycle for today...

Another bag! This time for taking wine to a friend's house for dinner - or even to give a bottle as a gift!
I used a pair of white kids trousers (I know, white is not the best colour for kids) - and these no longer fit my girls, and have stains on that just won't wash out - so definitely good for upcycling!

First I cut the legs from the trousers - and drew 2 circles on the remaining parts to cut for the base of the bags. (this is to make 2 bags the same)

So for each bag, pin the circle to the cut part of the trouser leg..

And stitch into place (right sides together of course)

Using a seam ripper, make a small hole in the seam near what is now the top of your bag - restitch on either side so the rest of the stitching doesn't unravel..

Then fold the end in and stitch to form the casing for the little drawstring.

Then I decided to add a little bling, with a set of discarded beads, just pinned and stitched into place..

And Voila!!  A wine bottle gift bag!

Another quick and easy 15 min project..
All wrapped up and ready to go!
