Christmas Wine Glass Coasters

I found the tutorial for these coasters last week when I wrote my round up post of

I think they are such a brilliant idea. An awesome way to identify your own wine glass at a party, plus you never have to worry about finding a coaster to put your glass down on!
What's even better, is that the tutorial is super simple and they can be made really quickly.

Rather than make them as a gift this year. I decided to make a Christmas set for 4 for our house!

I just used some Christmas Fabric. All you need is a CD for a template and 5 circles of each fabric. The tutorial is here at Muslin Merlot blog if you're interested!

Now I just need to wait for an excuse to open this bottle of wine and try them out!

Mini Fabric Christmas Trees - a tutorial

Yesterday I made these cute little fabric trees. I've seen them around here and there over the years and always wanted to try making them for myself.

Mine are about 10 cm (4") tall and quite simple to make.
A perfect addition to my Christmas Shouldn't Cost the Earth series.

All you need is some fabric, some 'stuffing' and a paper template for a tree. I used Christmas fabric, but you could use any fabric.
For the tree template you can simply draw your own the size you'd like - or you can download mine for free here.

Cut 6 pieces of fabric using your tree template.

Pin the trees together in pairs with right sides together.

Stitch around each tree, leaving a gap across the middle of the bottom of the tree to turn them right sides out and stuff them through. Clip the points of the tree to reduce bulk when you turn them out.

Turn the trees right sides out, pushing out the points using a chopstick or scissors.

Press the trees to flatten out.

Then place the three trees one on top of the other and pin them down the centre line.

Stitch along this line through all three trees.

Now stuff each of the 6 tree parts through the holes in the bottom, using a chopstick to push the stuffing right up into each point.

Then hand-stitch each opening closed.

And that is your mini fabric tree finished!

I also made a second tree with all the same green starry fabric.

I think they will make great table decorations at Christmas time!

I think these trees also have great possibilities to adapt.
You could add a little Santa hat and eyes to add a some character.  Or they would be great as a larger cushion version or cuddly toy!

Christmas Fabric Reusable Christmas Cards

This week I made some more of my

This time I used some scraps of Christmas fabric that had some mini picture panels on. So I simple cut out some panels and stitched them onto the front of the cards!
I did one in white, one in blue and one in grey denim from jeans scraps I have left over from other projects.
