The dolls take charge! - part two

"Ok girls, let's get straight into it. We need to get this car painted and pink before I'm setting foot in it!"
"Mmm.. I wonder if this would be a good shade of lipstick for me?'

"Don't you think we need bigger brushes?"

"Oh come on! If we all just concentrate and paint, we'll be done in no time! No thanks to Princess 'I don't want to get paint on my dress' back there!"
"I heard that!"
"All done! Are you sure that paint's dry Princess?"

"Ok let's get on with the tent while the paint dries then."

"Right! A bit of cutting...."

"And a bit of sewing...."

"Why do I always get this job?"

"And of course we need some tent poles. Come on, put your back into it girl!"
"A little help wouldn't go amiss!"

"Aaarrgg"
"OOofff!"
"This isn't as easy as it looks!"

"Sometimes things just don't turn out as you imagine them!"

"Mum! Can you help us please?"

"Ok Girls, you sit and watch so you can do it yourselves next time!"

"Then sew like this...."

"How's that then?"

"Nice and cosy, thanks Mum!"

"Camping is going to be so much fun!"

"I made you a pouch to keep your sleeping bags and mat in too."

"Well girls, I think we're just about ready! We've got our tent, and our sleeping bags."

"Put them in the car, and we're off!"

"Where are we going?"
"I don't know!"
"Didn't you pack a map?"
"Ouch! I just broke a nail!"
............
Maybe high heels and big hair with crazy make up don't quite go with camping!!
It's my daughter's 5th birthday on Friday, I'm sure she'll persuade the dolls that camping is fun, and take them all over the garden exploring!
Thanks for following this story!

The dolls take charge! - part one

Just when you thought your kids dolls were safely tucked away in a box somewhere.........

"Quick girls, let's get out of here, I don't want to be stuck in a box any longer! I want to get out and explore! Come on!"

"If we want to go somewhere, wheels would be a good start don't you think?"

"Yeah, nobody uses these old bike training wheels any more, surely we can come up with something..."

"That's a good start!"

"Phew! this is hard work girls!"

"I'll say! but I really think we're starting to get somewhere with this!"

"Let's take a break from all that hammering and drilling for now, time for something a bit more girly!"

"I like this pink fabric!"

"And I like this blue flowery one!"

"Ok, let's get to work girls! I saw a great idea on 'A Spoonful of Sugar' the other day."

"Good team work!"

Here's what we did:
Cut 2 pieces of fabric, approx 57cm x 15cm

Fold right sides together leaving a flap at the top to rest your head on, like this:

Stitch down both sides of both fabrics:

Turn one piece of fabric right side out and push into the other piece:

Pin around the opening and sides of the flap

Then stitch the two pieces together, leaving a gap at the top:

Turn right sides out...

Then push one inside the other like so:

Turn the top neatly under, pin and top stitch across.

Hey presto! You have a nice cosy sleeping bag!

Which also happens to be reversible! So you can colour coordinate with your pyjamas each night!

"Oh we're going to have such fun camping once that car's finished! Good work girls!"

"But what happens if it rains?"

"Lets go see if we can find something to help us."
"Mmmm, What about this?"

"Great! A pop up tent that no longer pops up!"
"Don't be such a defeatist!! I'm sure we can come up with something........"

My Creative Space

To sum up my creative week, which marks the start of me finally using all those things I've hoarded saying, "I'm sure I could make something out of this someday...."

I decided to turn this.......

Into this...........

Otherwise known as Space JeM

and into these.......

(also using some fabulous Barrier Reef fabric scraps.....)

6 Fishy Drinks Coasters

and a couple of matching patchwork placemats for those secret dinners in the secret garden!

and finally............

a small snack pouch

just perfect for a sneaky biccie in the handbag!!

I've only actually used one old ripped car windscreen shade, still two more left. I have a secret idea for one! It may take some time!!!
